Petroleum and Industrial specialized Inspection (PSI) Laboratory with suitable working space, specialized technical equipment for testing, specialized personnel and testing license under ISIRI / ISO / IEC 17025-2005 standard from the National Accreditation Center of Iran (NACI) in various fields. The related fields Include all kinds of welded and seamless metal cylinders, different types of composite cylinders, various types of industrial valves such as; overflow valves, safety valves, various types of pumps, and etc. In this specialized laboratory (PSI), there is a place for providing laboratory and consulting services, as well as developing procedures, inspection on repairing industrial valves, issuing the certificates, and insurance policies.

Purpose of a specialized laboratory

The Industrial Laboratory Unit of Petroleum and Industrial specialized Inspection (PSI) Company, as a provider of laboratory services in various fields of the industry, has made continuous efforts to upgrade and improve the quality of the services and customer satisfaction. Examinations are performed with the aim of ensuring the health and safety of personnel while working and using the equipment, better use of equipment, prevention of human and financial losses, reduction of repair and maintenance costs, and decreasing of production stoppage in accordance with relevant standards and safety regulations of the Ministry of Cooperatives Labour and Social Welfare.

The laboratory of Petroleum and Industrial specialized Inspection (PSI) Company with a commitment to implement the requirements of ISO / IEC 17025 standard as one of the capable and active arms in the field of technical testing in Iran. In this regard, the following quality policies as the main characteristics of activities and services in order to achieve the goals of the company has represented:

In order to attain the above objectives, the laboratory of Petroleum and Industrial specialized Inspection group has set its quality management system based on the requirements of the international standard ISO / IEC 17025. Therefore, the senior management of the laboratory commits himself to provide the necessary facilities and equipment to achieve the policy objectives and meet the requirements of this standard.

Services of the Specialized Laboratory


The laboratory of Petroleum and Industrial specialized Inspection (PSI) Company, with its space and technical facilities to perform repairs and tests and its capable and specialized personnel, provides services in the following specialized fields:


  • Equipment testing services based on national and international standards and in accordance with the requirements of the National Standard of Iran No. 17025 and the range of capabilities approved by the Iranian National Standard Organization.
  • Performing tests of various industrial equipment according to the customer’s request to ensure its accuracy
  • Consultant on the fields of testing and purchasing related devices
  • Designing, consulting and manufacturing of test equipment and devices
  • Calibration of pressure and temperature gauges
  • Supervising specialized industrial valves’ repairs
  • Different types of pumps’ tests
  • Equipment testing services based on national standards

Fixed and portable tanks that are used for storage and distribution of liquefied gas or ammonia without water must be subjected to hydrostatic or pneumatic pressure tests in certain time periods in accordance with the requirements of Iranian National Standard No. 841 to ensure their accuracy for utilizing another time period.

Different types of industrial valves such as ball valves, gate valves, globe valves, butterfly valves and check valves that face with the leakage problem or other problems during service, need to be tested again after reparation. The international standards used to test valves are generally API 598 and API 6D.

These valves are tested and approved in Iran in accordance with the requirements of Iranian National Standard No. 3644.

Seamless steel cylinders are widely used to transport various industrial gases such as oxygen, argon, nitrogen, helium, hydrogen, compressed air, methane, natural gas, monoxide, carbon dioxide, and etc. These cylinders need to be inspected and tested periodically in accordance with the Iranian National Standard No. 6792.

Combined and fully portable screw composite gas cylinders with an inner layer of aluminum, steel, non-metallic or without an inner layer, due to the unique advantages of composite materials such as low density (lightness) and very high strength, are widely applicable for transportation And transfer various industrial gases such as oxygen, argon, nitrogen, helium, hydrogen, monoxide and carbon dioxide, liquid gas mixtures, and so on. These cylinders need to be inspected and periodically tested in accordance with the Iranian National Standard No. 14953.

Gas cylinders made of portable carbon steel with welded structure, for storage of dense and pressurized liquefied gases, should be inspected and tested periodically at the intervals proposed in Iranian National Standard No. 18753 to confirm their performance for the next period.

Portable steel cylinders and refillable with the welded structure are used to transport and utilize liquefied petroleum gases. It is necessary during sampling or repair, in accordance with the requirements of the Iranian National Standard No. 473 and subject to the necessary tests such as a hydrostatic test to the test pressure, hydrostatic test to the stage of the bursting of the cylinder, pneumatic test and physical tests such as tensile strength, bending and welding line failure to confirm the accuracy of their future performance during service.

Portable steel cylinders and refills with the welded structure are used to transport and implement liquefied petroleum gases. It is necessary to inspect and test periodically (once every 5 years) in accordance with the requirements of Iranian National Standard No. 1-841 to confirm the correctness of their performance for the next period.

Note: It should be noted that during service and before each refill of the cylinder, it is obligatory that the cylinder should be tested in accordance with the requirements of the Iranian National Standard No. 841.

Various valves used in liquefied gas and ammonia systems (except safety valves) such as Shut-off Valve, Excess Flow Valve, Back Pressure Check Valve, Back Valve, Filler Valve, and Vapor Return Valve are required depending on the location and type of equipment. So, these valves are necessary to be tested during the using time periods specified in the relevant standards and in accordance with the requirements of the Iranian National Standard No. 8344 in order to confirm their performance for the next time usage.

Safety Relive Valves used in liquefied gas and waterless ammonia systems are required to be tested at intervals specified in the relevant standards and in accordance with the requirements of the Iranian National Standard No. 7910. This test should hold depending on the location and type of equipment used in order to confirm the accuracy of their performance for the next usage.

Manual powder fire extinguishers contain refillable powder and their capacity is between 1 to 14 kg. This extinguisher is a kind of quick-fire relief device that needs to be periodically tested in accordance with the requirements of Iranian National Standard No. 869.

Wheeled and portable fire extinguishers are considered as the front line of defense against limited fire. Even places equipped with automatic sprinklers, hoses, and tanks, or other fixed protective equipment, need these fire extinguishers. Therefore, it is necessary to be inspected and technically care in accordance with the requirements of the Iranian National Standard No. 2-9424.

Test steps

  1. Feasibility study of the test based on the capability of the equipment and expert force
  2. Acceptance, registration of sample specifications, and ensuring their health
  3. Review the documentation related to the tested samples
  4. Check the report of repairs made on the sample and test report of previous periods
  5. External and internal visual inspection (if possible) of the sample
  6. Perform all non-destructive tests (if required) before or after the test
  7. Perform test steps according to the description of the executive method
  8. In case of failing the test, provide a correction solution and modify the sample if possible
  9. Re-test if possible
  10. Health certification / test report and sample delivery to the customer
  11. Extermination of rejected samples (if necessary)

Specialized services

  • Consulting in the field of tests related to factories producing composite cylinders

Factories that manufacture composite cylinders are required to test their products in accordance with the requirements of Iranian National Standard No. 21293, depending on the type of cylinder and its design and service, and prove that their products meet the requirements set by the relevant standard.

  • Supervise specialized repairs of industrial valves and safety valves

Different types of industrial metal valves that have been excluded from service due to wear, leakage or malfunction, such as ball valves, gate valves, globe valves, Butterfly Valves, Plug Valves and Check Valves, will be repaired in the in-house workshop or professional companies of the contract party of this laboratory in accordance with the technical implementation method of this collection and under the supervision of experienced experts of the company. Subsequently, after performing the necessary tests and ensuring the elimination of leaks or any other damage in accordance with the requirements of national or international standards such as API 598, ISIRI 3644 or API 6D, they will be issued an inspection and test certificate. Also, based on the customer’s wishes and the requirements and sensitivities of the service, this laboratory, by presenting valid insurance under the supervision of the Central Insurance of Iran, will somehow guarantee the repaired and tested valves.

  • Adjust and test pressure safety valves and safety relief valves

Pressure Safety Valves and Safety Relief Valves need to be tested and adjusted during periodic service or after sales and before delivery to the customer and installation on equipment. In many cases, these types of valves reject during the test and need some specialized repairs. This laboratory, with its experienced specialists in specialized repairs of different types of PSV and safety valves, as well as the required devices such as lapping device and high pressure air compressors, is able to perform the necessary repairs and reset them to the pressure requested by the customer and final testing and release the test report.

  • Performing uncertainty calculations measurement

The test results without reliability cannot be published or reviewed and compared because it is not considered as a result yet. In all tests performed in Petroleum and Industrial specialized Inspection (PSI), the results presented in a quantitative manner, the relevant uncertainty calculations with the test results to estimate the level of reliability provided to the customer.

Without insurance coverage, the activities of various economic sectors will always be accompanied by fear and lack of peace of mind. Therefore, ensuring the tested equipment is one of the fundamental factors in the growth and expansion of investment security and confidence of industry or equipment owners.

The laboratory unit of Petroleum and Industrial specialized Inspection (PSI) in cooperation with reputable insurance companies, if the health certificate is issued and the tested samples are approved, free one-year insurance is provided at the request of the employer.

Petroleum and Industrial specialized Inspection (PSI) Company, in order to improve the quality level and technical knowledge of organization’s applicants, has decided to hold general and specialized training courses by having experienced professors and using the technical knowledge of local experts with issuance of a valid certificate:
